MY SMART GOAL

• Specific : What am I doing? Why am I doing it?

I want to educate people about sexual harassment because there are a lot of people doesn't know what is harassment.

• Measurable : How will I know I have succeeded? What are the indicators?

When they understand what is sexual harassment.

• Attainable : How can I make this happen? Is it achievable?

I will create a website that educates people about sexual harassment.

• Relevant : How is the goal relevant to your problem and interest?

Because there're a lot of women normalize the situation when they are being harassed because of patriarchal culture.

• Time based : When exactly do I want to accomplish my goal?

By the beginning of April I got at least 50 people educated about sexual harassment from my website

Empathy & Identifying Users

• What was your process when identifying your users?

I made a survey to know people's knowledge and experience about sexual harassment. Since I wanted to raise awareness about sexual harassment I wanted to know the things they know and don't so when I'm giving out information I make sure to give enough and detailed information.

• How challenging has it been to get in touch with your users? Or to decide which users to contact?

Well I made a survey and I targeted it to the people I know such as friends and family. It wasn't that challenging since there are social medias now and online surveys can be easily spread using a link.

• What is one unique insight that you learned from speaking to your users?

Now I know that a lot of my users have knowledge about sexual harassment and they are aware about it. But it's also sad knowing that they know someone that have ever got sexually harassed.

• Did your interviews change your perspective on the challenge? Was it hard to check your own bias at the door?

The interview didn't change my perspective I think the interview just proves my perspective more about sexual harassment such as the cause of it.

• How else might you gain empathy for your users? How might this experience be different if it was not taking place during a pandemic?

By letting people know about the actions that are a part of sexual harassment because maybe some actions that are a part of sexual harassment are being normalized/ignored and maybe some people aren't aware of it, so by spreading information about actions that are part of sexual harassment can get a lot of people to have more knowledge about sexual harassment through my website. If I have this topic as my culminating project if it was not taking place during the pandemic for the product I want to do something more bigger, like raising awareness through a live mini talk show where I interview experts and possibly victims.

Define and Ideate

• How have you reframed your "How might we question"?

My concern is "Stop female from getting sexual harassed? And can raising awareness stop female from getting sexual harassed?" because I've heard a lot of women getting sexual harassed and as a woman I want to feel safe and comfortable anywhere and anytime.

• Does your HMW question reflect your users’ needs?

Yes, because a lot of women out there might feel scared, not safe, and uncomfortable if they've heard about other women getting sexually harassed by men in a lot of ways. I want to help and protect a lot of women out there including myself.

• Quick brainstorm: What might be two possible solutions?

Th first one is educate them about what is sexual harassment and the misconception which is what I'm doing, but raising awareness isn't that easy either because I need a lot of people to be open minded about this topic (sexual harassment) and I need people to listen and understand about this topic and also become aware about this topic. Second is give information on where to find help if anyone ever gotten sexually harassed, and how to help the people around you have ever gotten sexually harassed.

• What is one thing that is currently causing you to stress about your project?

One of it is because since we are doing this project from home because of the pandemic I sometimes don't feel confident about my product and sometimes I am concerned if the information I am giving through my product is enough to help the people around me. And one of them is I am often worried that I won't be able to finish my project all by myself from home.

Prototype

The prototype on the top is my product which is a website. My website provides information about sexual harassment, the result of my survey, interview result, and also about where people can find help if they or anyone have ever gotten sexually harassed. From my website you will get more knowledge about them and it can help yourself and others in the future.
