Welcome, I am Mrs Cohen and I am the Head of Department of Geography here at CHS. Please start with the audio recording here to understand more about the misconceptions surrounding Geography and what being a Geographer is really all about.
"Geography has made me appreciate the world around us through a greater understanding of the world. I have really enjoyed Geography and I am really happy that I took it as it has been very interesting."
"Geography is intriguing, you learn a lot more about the world than you would even expect."
"Don’t think that geography is boring, at the start of the course I thought all it was going to be learning about is rocks. However, there are diverse topics so therefore you're never bored."
Yes! We take a group of GCSE students to Iceland every other year.
We always go during the October half term, usually for 4 nights/5 days.
Whilst we can't guarantee that you'll see the northern lights, there is no shortage of stunning waterfalls, volcanic craters, glacier lakes and folklore stories to keep you thoroughly awe inspired for the entire trip.
Of course! You will get the opportunity to go on two fieldwork trips, one to Edale in the Peak District for a river study and one to Chester for an urban study.
No. Your enquiry skills we be assessed during one of the written papers.
