This site explains how to make your choice of courses for September 2026 and provides information about all the GCSE/IGCSE courses available at CHS.

Four subjects (English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, and your Modern Language) are compulsory at CHS, and all pupils will choose either Dual Award Science (2 GCSEs) or separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics (3 GCSEs). You will follow nine academic subjects through to the GCSE or International GCSE (IGCSE) examinations.
The Waconian Programme, PE and Games will also form part of your curriculum in Years 10 and 11.
Do consider your choices carefully and seriously. It goes without saying that GCSE/IGCSE examinations are extremely important: your results will be influential when applying to both university and the world of work. Your GCSE/IGCSE grades will be very useful evidence for university Admissions Tutors as to how you can perform in external examinations. This is why we have included a page on this Site about GCSE & Careers, and each subject also has a dedicated section on their page to help you understand how their subject can help influence your future.
During February, you will meet with your Form Tutor to review your Provisional Choices, and you will be asked to submit Final Choices by Wednesday 4 March 2026.
