Future Self

During the course of the year all Year 9 pupils will complete a module on Future Self as part of the Waconian Programme. Here, they will be given the opportunity to research different careers and think about the importance of skills in today's employment market. They will also be given the opportunity to discuss in groups with a Future Self adviser how the subjects that they choose at this stage could change the various paths that they may be able to take in the future.

One thing that is critical to remember at this point is that it is completely normal to not know what you want to do or to be. It is, however, equally as important to realise that knowing what you do not want to do can help to inform your choices at this point. There is a lot of excellent information on the BBC Bitesize website that may help you come to a decision.

There is a lot of information on The Waconian Programme and Future Self pages of the Pupil Site and there are also a number of films of Old Waconians that will be able to help inform you about various career paths that you may be interested in following.
