MFA works by checking that the person logging into the school is who they say they are. You will either need to download the Microsoft Authenticator App and connect your phone, or enter your mobile number so that Microsoft can call and confirm your device. You will have more than likely seen this kind of security step when logging into online banking or CPOMS. None of your information will be shared with school staff. You will only be prompted for MFA when outside of the school network or that of another school within the Trust.
Open your web browser on your device and: <Click Here> (For this it is easier doing this on site at school, as it will automatically sign you in. If you are not on site, it will require you to sign in, using your school login details.)
You will next to set up a secondary way of authentication however, follow the instructions below:
Click on “+ Add method”
Select “Authenticator app” in the drop-down window, then click “Add” in the blue box.
For this you will need to download the “Microsoft authenticator app” on your phone, either from the Google play store or the Apple app store.
Once you have installed the app, click “Next” in the blue box.

If you’re prompted on your phone App, select to add a work account, then click “Next” in the blue box.
Using the Phone app, scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen, this will link your account to your phone. Click “Next” in the blue box.
Once you’ve linked your account, the Multifactor will do a test approval with you, once this is complete you can click “Next” in the blue box.
Your authenticator has been set up with the authenticator app.
Click on “+ Add method” once again.
Select “Phone” in the drop-down window, then click “Add” in the blue box.
Search for “United Kingdom +44” in the region drop-down box, then enter your phone number.
*You must select “Call” – The SMS system will not work, and isn’t expected to work in future*
Once the required fields have been completed, you will be able to click the “Next” box.
You will then have a test call, to verify your device – follow the instructions on the call.
You will now be able to log into remote desktop once the Multifactor authentication goes live.
