It is the responsibility of the head coach to make sure that all coaches understand, and can execute, the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for their sport and locations.
This plan is vital to the safety of our athletes, fans, and coaches. The EAP includes information from weather situations to medical transports and everything in between. It is important that the location of all AEDs in the building has been discussed with coaches and players. Also, it is the policy of Smoky Hill High School that, if athletes are on the fields for games or practice, the gates leading to the fields will be unlocked and open.
The safety of our student-athletes and community members is of utmost importance.
WEATHER EMERGENCIES
1. Head Coaches should be on "skyview" for weather alerts. All coaches can use "spark" on the "weather bug" app to asses lightning risk and impending severe weather.
2. Coaches should plan ahead for the possibility of severe weather. Discontinue practices during a severe thunderstorm and/or if lightning is present.
3. Outdoor play or practice can resume 30 minutes after the last strike within 6 miles.
4. In the event of tornado activity all athletes should be sheltered in the appropriate building for the venue.
5. Always be aware of weather changes and keep our athletes safe.
