PRE-SEASON MEETINGS
1. Coaches should hold a pre-season meeting containing information about the following items:
A. The starting date and times for practices.
B. What, if any, pre-season practices are planned. STRESS THAT THESE ARE OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE SAKE OF CONDITIONING AND WILL HAVE NO BEARING ON TEAM SELECTION.
C. The registration process including applicable fees.
D. The try-out and selection process.
E. Any anticipated fundraising activities (See Fundraising Policies).
F. Any other activity-specific information (Please provide a copy for the Athletics Office).
SPORTS BULLETIN
Coaches should check the CHSAA sports bulletin for their sport at least 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the season for rules changes or interpretations, playoff formats, and other updates. The bulletin can be found HERE.
SCHEDULES
Coaches should check schedules heading into the season to make sure all is correct. Be aware of the number of contests, change in game times, and working around things like ACT testing dates.
INFORMATIONAL BOOKLETS
The printing of informative material for distribution to program participants in which as much information as possible is presented to participants and parents is encouraged. Coaches are responsible for being consistent with department, district, conference, and state policies and procedures. Coaches should provide a review copy to the Athletics Director prior to printing and/or distributing the booklets.
Printing costs may be paid through the sports fundraising account.
EQUIPMENT ISSUE PROCEDURE
1. The coach is responsible for the issuance of all equipment, supplies, and uniforms in his/her sport. The coach must know the timeline for the issuing equipment according to CHSAA policy.
2. The coach is responsible for the collecting, cleaning, inventory, repairing, and storing of all supplies.
