East Student/Parent Handbook: CLICK HERE
Here is your one-stop guide to EVERYTHING at East. From academics and student services to activities and athletics, this handbook contains all the important information you may need throughout the year.
Student Parking 2026-2027
Driving and parking on school grounds is a privilege extended to students whose attendance and discipline records demonstrate consistent and responsible behavior. As in previous years, Cherry Hill Public Schools will assess a $50 student parking fee for eligible students. Parking permits are valid only for the 2026–2027 school year, are non-refundable, and spaces are limited.
To park on school property, a student must be assigned a parking permit. Every approved student will be assigned a specific parking space. Students may only park in their assigned location. Parking permits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with seniors receiving priority. Once all student spaces have been assigned, no additional permits will be issued.
Additional parking may be offered to eligible junior students, based on availability on a first-come, first-served basis during the school year. Juniors parking illegally will not be granted a parking permit first semester senior year and will face consequences under the Code of Conduct. Any student suspended three (3) or more times during his/her/their junior year shall not be granted parking privileges first semester senior year.
Please note that students are prohibited from parking in the yellow lined spots or the Main Entrance Parking Lot, which are reserved exclusively for the school's faculty and staff. Any student observed parking in a faculty spot is subject to being issued a summons and towed at the owner’s expense.
To receive a parking permit:
Complete an application signed electronically by BOTH the student and their parent/guardian (Please note that images must be uploaded of the student’s driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and proof of insurance - Parking Online Application (Forms Tab) – Genesis Parent Portal)
Payment must be completed for the student to receive a parking permit. The $50.00 Parking Fee is posted on Genesis - PaySchools (the fee is called "Parking Fee East 26-27")
Applications will be reviewed, and upon approval, you will receive an email. Approved applicants will be notified through the student's school email address, as well as the parent's Genesis Parent Portal email address. The e-mail will contain information and instructions for picking up your parking permit from the high school.
If you have already submitted your paperwork and payment, notifications will begin the week of August 10th and distribution of parking permits will begin the week of August 24th.
Questions? Email Assistant Principal Mr. Davis at cdavis@chclc.org.
Early Dismissal (Half Day) Schedule Request 2026-2027 (For college courses or work during school hours)
Students enrolled in accredited college coursework and/or employed during school hours may request an early dismissal schedule.
To apply:
Complete the 2026–2027 Early Dismissal Request Form.
If applicable, complete the Employment Verification Form and return it to Ms. Kavanagh in the Guidance Office.
Please note that requests will only be approved if all graduation requirements can be completed within a half-day schedule. Questions should be directed to your school counselor.
PE Exemptions 2026-2027
For those students who are seeking a PE exemption, you must complete the form available in the GRADE LEVEL OFFICE. The deadline to complete this form (Fall - 1st Semester) is September 11, and (Spring - 2nd Semester) is January 27. No forms will be accepted after this date. Please note that this form must have the original signatures of the Coach, Parent, and Student. Hand in your completed form to GRADE LEVEL - and don't forget to write your paragraph first!
The Fall PE Log must be completed and turned in to Mrs. Eilola in Grade Level by January 25, 2027. Spring logs are due on June 4, 2027.
Students must meet for and maintain no less than 150 minutes (2 ½ hours) with an organized activity provided by a team or outside organization each week that school is in session. The time requirement is not an “average” of multiple weeks. Time may include active participation in competitive events. It may not include days when school is not in session. Physical therapy, individual workouts, and personal trainers are not applied toward the time requirement. Students must be supervised by an adult coach. Physical activities must meet PE standards. Credit is awarded only if the student submits a completed log, including game/competition and practice schedules. Students will only be placed in a study hall.
Senior Privilege 2026-2027 (Arriving late or leaving early with study hall)
Senior Privilege is available to members of the Class of 2027 who have a study hall scheduled during the first or last period of the day.
Approved students may:
Arrive after first-period study hall (late arrival), or
Leave early if their study hall is scheduled during the last period of the day.
A parent or guardian must complete the required application through the Genesis Parent Portal. This is included in the mandatory forms that are published prior to the start of school.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility is reviewed at the end of each marking period. A student's Senior Privilege may be revoked at any time during the school year by the student's parent/guardian or School Administrator, should a student become ineligible.
Senior Privilege may be suspended if a student:
Is not passing all classes.
Accumulates more than three tardies to second period.
No longer meets school expectations.
Students who lose eligibility may reapply at the end of the next marking period.
Approved families will receive notification by email. Students with Senior Privilege must report to the Communications Office to scan in or out of school upon arrival or departure. Students must leave the school premises immediately, upon signing out and cannot return unless they have a doctor's note. If the student has an after-school activity, they must return to that activity after school has been dismissed.
Cherry Hill East is NOT an open campus. Students cannot leave and return to the school building when their study hall aligns with the lunch periods. Students who leave school early without proper approval will be considered to have left school grounds without permission and consequences including Saturday School and suspension will be given.
Attendance System (as of 8/31/26)
East is using the Genesis Parent Portal to streamline attendance reporting.
To report an absence, tardy, or early dismissal:
Log in to the Parent Portal.
Select Attendance → Notify Attendance Office.
Choose Absent, Tardy, or Early Dismissal, enter the date and a brief reason, and upload documentation if needed.
NOTE: if applicable, we will need documentation to help support excused class absences.
Early Dismissals: Please submit requests at least one hour before pickup and include the name of the person picking up your child. That person must be listed in Genesis as an approved contact and present a government-issued ID. If your student will be driving themselves, please indicate that in the notes. Students may only drive themselves from campus if they have an approved vehicle with a valid East parking pass.
Food Delivery Guidelines
Food from outside providers CANNOT be delivered to East nor can parents bring food from outside restaurants. This is against both BOE policy and the contract we have with Aramark. Communications has been instructed to not allow any food from outside vendors to be delivered. If your child forgets their lunch, you can bring a homemade lunch to school for him/her/them or they can purchase lunch in the cafeteria. Thank you for your understanding.

Chromebook Policies & Student Accountability
As part of our continued commitment to providing every student with the tools they need for success, all students will be issued a district Chromebook (if they have not received one already). While students may use a personal device for daily schoolwork, the school-issued Chromebook must remain available for state testing and other required assessments.
To ensure that devices are cared for and available when needed, the following expectations are in place:
Daily Responsibility: Students are expected to bring their charged device to school every day.
Loaner Devices: If a student forgets their device, they may borrow a school Chromebook for the day from the Grade Level Office. Loaners MUST be returned before dismissal.
Limited Use: Each student may sign out a loaner only three (3) times per school year. After this limit, students will not be issued additional loaners.
Chargers: School-issued chargers are provided with Chromebooks and must remain with the device. Chargers may not be borrowed separately, nor may they be used for personal devices (such as phones). Students are expected to bring their charger from home if needed.
Accountability for Care: Devices will be checked when issued and at return. Any damage, neglect, or loss will be documented, and families will be contacted regarding responsibility for repair or replacement.
Tech Support: If a student’s Chromebook is not working properly, see Mr. Rick Friedman, located by the library, for assistance - RFriedman@chclc.org
Check out our Chromebook FAQ document for more questions/answers!
These updates are designed to promote accountability and responsibility while ensuring that all students have access to functioning devices when required. We ask for your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home so that our school resources remain in good condition for every student.
