The Governor’s School of New Jersey was established in 1983. It is a tuition-free, residential summer program for high-achieving juniors (who will be rising seniors this summer), who have an interest in STEM subjects - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Currently, there are two programs: the Governor’s School in the Sciences at Drew University and the Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology at Rutgers University. Cherry Hill East will nominate two students for each college.
Are you an academically-talented junior interested in being nominated for one of these two STEM programs this summer? Here's what to do:
Sciences at DREW UNIVERSITY: July 6 - July 26, 2025
Engineering & Technology at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY: July 5 - July 25, 2025
FORM: Our Governor's School Interest Form - Click Here! - Please print the form and fill it out, or pick up a printed form in the Guidance Office. Parent signature is required on the form.
RESUME: A list of your extracurricular activities, in order of importance to you (include any leadership roles you hold).
ESSAY: A one-page essay explaining why you want to attend the Governor’s School that you selected.
After you hand in the above documents, East makes its nomination decisions.
We can nominate only 2 students for each program. Achievement in rigorous classes, especially science/math, and junior PSAT scores will be reviewed by a committee. If you are selected, you will be notified by Monday, 12/16/2024. At that time, you may begin the application for Drew/Rutgers and request recommendations from teachers. Do not ask for recommendations until you are chosen as a nominee!
Once selected, nominees must return completed applications to Mrs. Lynch in Guidance no later than Thursday, 1/9/2025 at 2:30pm.
Students selected as Governor’s School Scholars will be notified of acceptance status in early April 2025.
Good luck!!
