NJ Governor's School

SUMMER 2024 - APPLICATION INFORMATION

The Governor’s School of New Jersey was established in 1983. It is a tuition-free, residential summer program for high-achieving juniors (who will be rising seniors this summer), who have an interest in STEM subjects - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Currently, there are two programs: the Governor’s School in the Sciences at Drew University and the Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology at Rutgers University. Cherry Hill East will nominate two students for each college.

Are you an academically-talented junior interested in being nominated for one of these two STEM programs this summer? Here's what to do:

1.) Read about the programs here:

Sciences at DREW UNIVERSITY: July 7 - July 27, 2024

Engineering & Technology at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY: July 1 - July 25, 2024

2.) Submit the following 3 documents to Mrs. Lynch in Guidance NO LATER THAN Monday, 12/11/2023 by 12:00pm:

PLEASE NOTE:
  • If interested in both programs, you may indicate a 1st and 2nd choice on the form.
  • You must be sure that you are willing and able to attend the entire program before applying.  Note that the dates are different for each program.

NEXT STEPS - THE EAST SELECTION PROCESS

After you hand in the above documents, East makes its nomination decisions.

We can nominate only 2 students for each program.  Achievement in rigorous classes, especially science/math, and junior PSAT scores will be reviewed by a committee of science teachers.  If you are selected, you will be notified by Friday, 12/22/2023.  At that time, you may begin the application for Drew/Rutgers and request recommendations from teachers. Do not ask for recommendations until you are chosen as a nominee!

Once selected, nominees must return completed applications to Mrs. Lynch in Guidance no later than Thursday, 1/11/2024 by 2:30pm.

Students selected as Governor’s School Scholars will be notified of acceptance status in early April 2024.

Good luck!!
