Information about Schedule Changes During School Year
PLEASE NOTE: These 2024-2025 deadlines have passed, but remain here for your information.
DROP/ADD PERIOD - There is a drop/add period during the first ten days of school. These dates are Tuesday, September 3rd through the end of the day on Monday, September 16th, 2024. You may request to make a schedule change by using the East Course Selection Change Form linked HERE. Requests for schedule changes must be approved by the student's parents/guardians. After this date, only level change requests will be considered at the end of the first interim, which is October 7th. Please note that only students using their school issued CHCLC accounts can access this form. Parents will not be able to access the form to request a change for their student.
LEVEL CHANGES (STARTING OCTOBER 7th) - After the drop/add period, students cannot request a level change until the end of the first interim period, October 7th. Requests for level changes must have parent/guardian approval, current teacher approval, and administrator approval. Level change requests can be made from the end of the first interim through the end of the first cycle of the second marking period. These dates will be October 7th, 2024 through November 19th, 2024.
WITHDRAWAL FROM COURSES - If the withdrawal is made within the first six weeks (semester course) and the last school day of November (full-year course), no record of this withdrawal will be made on the student's record. After this six-week period for semester courses and the last school day of November for full-year courses, WP (withdrawn passing) or WF (withdrawn failing) will be reflected on a student's transcript. A student who wishes to withdraw from a course must consult his/her/their school guidance counselor. Additionally, the student must have permission from his/her/their parents to withdraw. After 50% of the course is complete a student can no longer drop the course - semester course (1 marking period), full year course (1 semester).
***Please note that we cannot honor scheduling requests involving specific teachers. Students also cannot request Homeroom/Lunch, or period changes.***
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Students MUST follow their schedules as they appear in Genesis until they are notified (typically through school email) of a change by their counselor. All students should report to their assigned classes in Genesis even if they are expecting or requesting a schedule change.
