All About the PSAT/NMSQT
Go to www.collegeboard.org/psat for all things PSAT!
Every year in the fall, we administer the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) at no cost to 10th and 11th grade students at Cherry Hill East. Here is information from our principal, Dr. Perry:
"The test familiarizes all students who take it with the requirements for the SAT. The test enables students to compare their academic skills with those of other college-bound students nationwide. The CollegeBoard automatically enters high-scoring juniors into the National Merit Scholarship competition.
The PSAT score reports enable students to view their strengths and weaknesses in critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing, and provide students with specific suggestions about how to improve skills. The data also helps families gauge a student’s potential success in higher-level courses by using AP Potential information included in the score reports."
Students should be prepared with sharpened #2 pencils and a calculator, although no questions require the use of a calculator.

ACCESSING YOUR PSAT SCORES
Every student who provides an email address during testing receives a confirmation email from the College Board when scores are ready. The College Board no longer sends paper copies of scores to school districts - All scores are accessed by the student electronically.
To access your PSAT scores, login here: https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/home If you don't have a College Board account yet, you can create one by clicking "Create Account" below the login screen.

Video on Accessing your PSAT/NMSQT Score Report: https://youtu.be/1I6f51n3-dc
Video on Understanding your PSAT/NMSQT Score Report: https://youtu.be/ie6WBDzjtGA
The score report summarizes student performance on each section and content area, and shows how students performed on easy, medium, and hard questions, according to different skills, and by percentiles through peer group comparisons. The reports also enable students to learn about their AP Potential.
Students can access free personalized practice on KHAN ACADEMY (www.khanacademy.org/sat) through linking their College Board and Khan Academy accounts, as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/patbkNnnAQ4
The PSAT is the first step to preparing for the SAT. Use your results to sharpen your skills and prepare for the SAT. See SAT registration and information at the top of this page!
