All scholars will complete two Self-Assessments of the Wisconsin Teacher Standards - one at the beginning of the program and one at the end of the program.
These self-assessments provide scholars an opportunity to reflect on their proficiency by scoring themselves from 1 to 4 in each of four elements of each of the ten standards and to make any comments regarding their current status in those standards.
They can then make a plan to improve their proficiency throughout their program.
The top of the document gives you an indication of whether or not each standard is complete. In order for the standard to be marked complete, all sub-standards must be rated and the "Please Complete" box in column J must be changed to "Complete."
1 - Initial - I am at an awareness level of understanding of this knowledge, skill or disposition and am beginning to apply this skill in my teaching practice.
2 - Developing - I am developing an understanding of this knowledge, skill or disposition in my teaching practice; I consider myself as an educator who is learning to apply this skill in my practice.
3 - Professional - I demonstrate a thorough understanding of this knowledge, skill or disposition in my daily teaching practice; I consider myself as a professional educator as I apply this skill in my practice.
4 - Master - I demonstrate a deep, reflective understanding of this knowledge, skill or disposition in my daily teaching practice; I consider myself as a role model and master educator as I apply this skill in my practice.
The scholar's scores are automatically calculated and displayed in the Standards Performance graph.
The scholar then examines the standards and chooses the two standards that they would like to improve, filling in the boxes and marking them as complete, when done.
When everything is complete, the scholar then notifies their Teacher-Coach that the document is complete.
The Teacher-Coach reviews for completion, enters their initials, changes the status from "Not Graded" to "Complete" and notifies the Scholar Advisor and the Scholar.
