Scholars who enter the program with a GPA between 2.4 and 2.75 must pass the Praxis I Core exam to graduate the program. The Praxis I Core consists of three modules:
5713 - Reading - (Passing Score: 156)
5723 - Writing - (Passing Score: 162)
5733 - Mathematics - (Passing Score: 150)
We suggest you take the combined test. If you do not pass all sections of the test, you can always retake a particular section. However, if you feel more comfortable taking one section at a time, you may do so. It may just cost you more money to do so.
Most scholars must pass a Praxis 2 test to be licensed in the State of Wisconsin. Below you will see blue buttons that contain the name of the test. Clicking on one of these buttons will lead you to the registration page. Don't forget to put Cooperative Educational Service Agency #7 down as a score recipient so that we get a copy of your test results. We must have results directly from ETS to verify your completion of this requirement.
Important Update: The DPI has adopted a new test that has replaced the 5146 for the K-9 Elementary/Middle licensure. The old test was discontinued as of August 31, 2025. The new test will be the 5001 Elementary Education with cut scores for each section.
