The Marsh Creek Detention Facility is a minimum security level for men who are convicted for crimes. The Marsh Creek Detention Facility houses incarcerated individuals who have been convicted of lesser crime classifications and have already been sentenced.

The Martinez Detention Facility is a maximum security correctional facility operated by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department. It is the primary intake point for anyone arrested in Contra Costa County. It houses male and female detainees awaiting adjudication for misdemeanor or felony charges and convicted inmates serving sentences for these crimes.

The West County Detention Facility is a direct supervision jail designed to operate as a a co-educational, program-oriented facility. Educational and vocational programs are provided through a contract between the Office of the Sheriff and the Contra Costa County Office of Education. The Office of Education maintains a full-time on-site Adult School staff comprised of a principal, numerous teachers, and administrative professionals.
