Rental Deposit Assistance: Provides rental assistance for back rent, current rent, or deposit. Utility assistance is limited to those receiving rental or deposit assistance. Clients will have to be approved for the place first then apply to our program.
Rent Payment Assistance: Provides rental assistance for back rent or current rent. Utility assistance is limited to those receiving rental or deposit assistance.
ELIGIBILITY
Rental assistance for back rent for individuals who have received an eviction notice or three-day notice.
Current rent or deposit, for individuals who have identified a new place to live and have a letter of intent to rent or Section 8 recipients with a passing proof of inspection report. Clients will have to be approved for the place first, then apply to the program.
Must be a resident of Contra Costa County.

Shelter, Inc offers short term financial assistance for families and individuals facing a housing crisis through no fault of their own in Contra Costa County and Solano County. The assistance is to help prevent homelessness for households at immediate risk of becoming homeless. If a person or household receives TANF/CAlWORKs, IHSS, CAPI, or ILSP, or other EHSD program benefit, they should request financial assistance through their case worker. They offer one month rent and/or deposit assistance to rehouse homeless individuals through ESG funds.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Valid identification, social security, pay stubs or other proof of income, proof of crisis that cause being behind in rent (documents) or proof of crisis that cause to find a new place (documents), other document may apply for adults. Social security cards and birth certificates for children.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be at risk of becoming homeless due to circumstances that are out of clients control. Must be able to demonstrate financial self-sufficiency (ability to pay rent without financial assistance) moving forward and show proof of the reason why they are behind in their rent.

Lao Family Community Development provides access to an array of housing opportunities and case managers to assist with housing needs in Contra Costa County.
Currently, Lao Family Community Development manages three (3) master-leased interim rental propertities for homeless AB-109 re-entry adults in Richmond, Martinez, and Pittsburg.
SERVICES PROVIDED: Help with affordable rental housing; housing navigation; first-time homeownership; supportive housing; business assistance, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
