The LGBT National Help Center provides telephone and email peer counseling services as well as factual LGBTQ informaton and local resources for cities and towns nationwide. Callers of all ages are able to talk about coming-out issues, relationship concerns, HIV/AIDS anxiety, safer-sex information and many other topics. The center also maintains a database that contains information with LGBTQ information and local resources across the United States. The center also has a separate Youth Talkline operated by volunteers who are in their teens and early twenties that speak with other teens and young adults up to the age of 25 about LGBTQ issues and concerns. Youth chatrooms and peer support chat is also available online.
Operated by the LGBT National Help Center, this hotline offers peer-support to callers who are often very isolated, sometimes still closeted, and in need of a caring, non-judgmental person to talk with. The counselors on the hotline don't give advice; instead, they listen and they care! They are certified in crisis response, offer support without judgement, answer questions factually and confidentially, and provide information about community support resources like healthcare, transportation, counseling, legal services, and emotional support programs.
The Trevor Project provides a national toll-free suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. Callers can talk to trained counselors who offer confidential crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ young people under the age of 25 years old as well as find local resources. The Trans Hotline is a national toll-free suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline for transgender individuals. The hotline is staffed by transgender volunteers who connect clients to services and will only call emergency services with the clients expressed consent. They provide the Microgrants program which helps individuals who are not cisgender with financial assistance for name changes on passports, driver's licenses and state identification, court order name changes, and immigration documents. Financial assistance is dependent on the availability of funds.
The Crisis Text Line provides free 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support and crisis intervention by empowering a community of trained volunteers to support people in their moments of need.
DeQH is the first and only national Desi LGBTQ+ Helpline in the United States. They offer free, confidential, culturally sensitive peer support, information and resources for LGBTQ+ South Asian individuals, families, and friends around the world. They offer a safe and supportive ear for callers to share their concerns, questions, struggles or hopes through conversations with trained South Asian peer support volunteers.
BlackLine provides a space for anonymous peer support, counseling, witnessing, and affirming the lived experiences to folxs who are most impacted by systematic oppression with an LGBTQ+ Black Femme Lens. You do not have to provide any personal information to use the service. All calls remain private and will never be shared with law enforcement or state agencies of any kind. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. Advocates have access to information about shelters and domestic violence programs across the United States and U.S. Territories. All services are free, confidential and anonymous.
