Monument Impact's Day Labor program connects skilled day laborer men and women with employers, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions. Skills available include carpentry, tile work, painting, and other labor. Aside from short-term work, the day labor program also offers workshops and classes for members to develop trade skills, which will enable clients to find steadier work. Opportunity Junction helps individuals take the steps they need to get back into the job market, at no cost. All this program asks is that they are willing to invest the time and hard work necessary to relaunch their career. Services provided by Opportunity Junction include: goal review, employment matching services, job training, resume help, interview preparation, and job placement assistance.  

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a resident of Contra Costa County. Must be over the age of 18 years of age. Must be seeking full-time employment after completing the training program. Rubicon helps you build a career that will provide you with the resources you need to achieve your long-term goals. Rubicon helps you find employment to meet their immediate needs, while building the skills & network to launch a meaningful career. 

Services include: 

• Workshops and one-on-one support to build a resume, practice interviewing skills and find a job

• Legal support to address barriers to employment

• Ongoing support to retain employment

• Computer lab and digital literacy education

• Access to a community of potential employers cultivated by our Workforce Services team

• One-on-one sessions with Career Advisors to map out career plans to increase their earning potential; and 

• Career pathways through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship. 

Each Rubicon participant begins their journey by completing the two-week Foundations Workshop. After completing the workshop, each participant is connected with an Impact Coach. The Impact Coach and participant work together for up to three years. Please call to make an appointment with one of our Ambassadors at our Richmond or Antioch locations. If our program seems like a good fit, you will be scheduled to meet with one of our Impact Coaches to discuss your goals, and our program eligibility requirements.

The Workforce Development Program at St. Vincent de Paul provides training and work experience for those who are new to or have been out of the workforce. The goal of the program is to help participants with barriers to employment find long-term, satisfactory work at a decent wage upon the conclusion of the 24-week program.

ELIGIBILITY

• Candidates must have access to reliable transportation

• Candidates must live in a stable environment with access to adequate hygiene facilities.

• Candidates must have access to adequate, reliable childcare.

• Candidates must have a high school diploma, GED or higher (SVdP may waive this requirement if the candidate demonstrates proficiency or is in the process of completing this requirement).

• Candidates must have completed or will attend a basic computer course or can demonstrate equivalent experience.

• Candidates must attend mandatory pre-selection workshops.
