Curriculum Intent
Photography students will be encouraged to be open minded, critical reflective learners; developing a new way of seeing the world around them, which will enable creative practice. Creative thinking will be supported through research of historical and contemporary artists and photographers, hence developing an understanding of the relevance of photography within our cultural environment.
Our curriculum will ensure that all of our students will have the opportunity to:
Become creative problem solvers,generating and explore a variety of ideas supported by their research and love for learning,
Engage with and explore a range of technical and creative skills, such as functions of a DSLR camera, manipulation images through Photoshop, studio lighting, developing a personal digital portfolio.
Demonstrate determination to develop analytical skills and express themselves verbally and in written form using subject specific vocabulary
Aspire to develop a sense of pride and experience success through a broad and varied curriculum which will support all levels of skills and prior knowledge.
Engage in appreciation of artists and photographers from various periods of time and culture, not only in the classroom but also taking part in trips and visits to broaden their experience and learn outside the classroom environment.
Students will learn how to find success in career opportunities that studying photography can bring.
Nurture a life-long respect and love of the arts which may lead to a future career or an enjoyable pastime to promote well-being.
