Curriculum Intent
Our aim is to develop our students’ expressive skills in dance composition with learners applying these skills to the process of creating, rehearsing and performing. The purpose of our curriculum is to enable students to understand and apply the principal approaches to choreography and performance using a range of influences and inspirations. Throughout lessons, students will reflect on and evaluate their own work and that of others, building upon their resilience and determination to make informed choices in process and performance. Alongside practical exploration, students will also develop their ability to analyse and evaluate through verbal discussion and creative logs.
We aim to encourage high commitment within and outside of lessons providing a variety of extracurricular classes for all students to experience. Ultimately, this gives students further performance opportunities to develop their technical and expressive skills, respectful relationships and self esteem.
Five top tips for success in subject:
- Schedule rehearsals outside of the lesson
- Write up or record your reflections straight after every rehearsal
- Watch exemplar choreography to influence own dance ideas
-Record verbal feedback to reflect in rehearsals
-Be organised for Theory Tasks
