Coeur d’Alene Public Schools recognizes the importance of physical education in addition to continued encouragement to make healthy lifestyle choices. The concepts of physical education and health are based upon the acquisition of knowledge and skills that are the foundation for engaging in physical activity. The mission of these programs is to empower all students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Physical Education and health are a sequential educational programs with specific expectations in elementary, middle, and high schools. It is based on the activities undertaken in each course that builds an active, caring, supportive, and non-threatening atmosphere in which every student is challenged and successful.
The purpose of health and physical education is to provide health-related and skill-related fitness concepts and skills in order to create an environment that promotes the development of lifelong movers.
