My hear project is a jewelry box. I made a jewelry box because it is a good gift idea. I also made it because i think it is cute. My process is that i made the heart shape for the bottom piece and then i put edges around the whole thing so it would sit nice when i put the top on. I then did the top and then i traced that little heart shape on the top. then i put it in the kiln then glazed it to the colors i used in the picture. The art dosen't mean anything i just thought it was a cute shape. This one was pretty easy for me but i think the hardest part was making it smooth. I smoothed it out with my fingers the most part. I would say my heart is realistic, and i love the style and just how its a jewelry holder. My second one is a bird pencil holder. There is no back story to this i just had extra clay. The head comes off so then you can put a pencil in it. I made the clay body and then digged a pencil sized hole in the body, and then made the head and wings. I then put it in the kiln and then glazed and sanded it. This literally dosent mean anything it was just made with free clay i had. the most difficult thing was keeping the wings on because one of them fell off. I would change how it did the wings if i could start over. I would say this is also realistic because it is based off of a bird. I like how it is a pencil holder. My next project is my slip drape bowls. I had to make a chip and pip bowls for ceramics. My first bowl is the red one it is a mandala sort of design. My process was that i just found a stencil and pressed it into my clay before i put it on my foam circle. Then i layed to on my circle thing and let it sit out until i put it in the kiln and glazed it a red color. My artwork dosent have a meaning all it is is a dip bowl for chips or anything i want to use it for. This one wasn't really hard for me but the hardest thing was to put the design on because it was hard to press it in and make sure it was all visible. I would say the style is abstract or realistic. I love how this turned out but the one thing i would change is that i didnt glaze the whole thing thats what i would do differently. The second bowl is the plain one for chips. I didn't do design i just glazed it a greenish gray color which i like because it is simple. I basically smoothed my clay as much as i could and then did the same process as the other one, like put it in the kiln and then glaze it. This also dosent mean anything it is just a chip bowl. I honestly wouldn't change anything i would maybe paint a design in it or something but i think it looks good how it is. I think that this is realistic and i like how it turned out, and i think that it looks really sleek and clean. My last one is a vase. I made a little 3D butterfly on it as well. I basically used this vase stencil and cut it out to the vase shape and glazed the edges together. Then i cut out my butterfly and then put some slip on it and attached it to the vase. Then put it in the kiln and glazed the vase a pastel color and then did my butterfly yellow. It doesnt mean anything again i just found a picture of something with 3D butterflies and i thought it was a cool idea. The most difficult thing was getting the vase structure probably. I wouldn't change anything because this is my favorite one out of the 5. I would say that this is realistic because of the butterfly. I love the little butterfly on it, and i think i did a really good job. I think that it fits my style because its sort of unique and i don't think many people did something similar to my project.
