The Rifle Team is a shooting team that competes against other schools. The sport promotes the safe handling of rifles and focuses on each individual mastering the basic elements of marksmanship shooting. All equipment is provided by the MCJROTC. Rifle team cadets succeed because of their high level of motivation, commitment to excellence, dedicated practice, and good old-fashioned hard work. The rifle team offers many valuable benefits to cadets who participate Cadets can compete in Regional and State competitions and many other Postal competitions from all over the country. Rifle shooting is an NCAA collegiate championship sport. Scholarship opportunities for high school students are available to qualified cadets.
The Color Guard is composed of cadets from within the MCJROTC program. They present our nation’s Colors at CCPS athletics and community events and compete against other JROTC units in competitions. The Color Guard averages 20+ presentations a year. Practice begins in the Fall and continues throughout the school year.
The Drill Team performs precision armed and unarmed drill synchronized drill movements. They compete against other JROTC units in local, regional, and national level competitions. Practice begins in July and continues through the April time frame.
The Raider Team is a physical fitness team. The team has three teams: Male, Female and Mixed. They compete against other JROTC units in such events as Obstacle Course runs, Rope Bridge building, two-mile search and rescue races, and other activities that concentrate on physical strength, stamina, and teamwork. The team begins practice in July and the season lasts throughout October.
