Military Science
The Culpeper County Public Schools Marine Corps JROTC program is one unified program housed at Eastern View High School. Cadets (students) from CCHS and EVHS who enroll in Military Science (JROTC) are introduced to the value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. It does not seek any particular commitment to the military. JROTC programs assist cadets with the transition to ROTC at the college level and service academies, a military career, the workforce, or some other type of post-secondary institution of higher learning after high school graduation. Requirements to Enroll and Complete Program: Be in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 and agree to adhere to the military grooming and uniform wear standards.
MILITARY SCIENCE (MCJROTC) I

Cadets are introduced to the JROTC curriculum, and basic U.S. citizenship rights and responsibilities are established and reinforced. Cadets learn leadership, history, communication techniques, disciplined study habits, management skills, first aid, drug abuse prevention, map reading, physical fitness, and workplace readiness skills. Military customs and courtesies, proper uniform wear, and personal appearance guidelines are followed within the leadership lab, drill, and military ceremonies. All cadets are required to extensively participate in community service projects, events, and ceremonies.

MILITARY SCIENCE (MCJROTC) II (Adv.)

Continues the introductory-level leadership and management instruction within the MCJROTC Basic Course and introduces tasks commonly required of Cadet rank. The course is organized into three main sections covering standard task uniform, leadership, and military bearing. The use of practical exercises is stressed, as cadets are required to display and understand presented ideas and concepts and then further develop their leadership skills by demonstrating their rank.

MILITARY SCIENCE (MCJROTC) III (Adv.)

Constitutes the principal leadership and management instruction within the MJROTC Basic Course while integrating communication and planning skills related to small unit leadership. Topics of discussion and study include taking charge of small groups, troop leading procedures, planning, leadership communication skills, and evaluations. The use of practical exercise is stressed as Cadets continue to expand and exercise leadership skills introduced in previous courses. In addition, the use of community services and school activities will continue to train cadets in individual-level leadership skills essential leadership tasks and will also serve as an environment for cadets to exercise and experiment with their leadership styles.

MILITARY SCIENCE (MCJROTC) IV (Adv.)

Cadets perform duties as a team and staff members. Cadets will prepare for the transition from post-secondary school to college, university, or the workforce. Focus on letter writing, technology awareness, physical training, and public speaking. Assist instructor in a drill, physical activity, and inspections with a requirement to teach a minimum of one class for each subject taught for the LET level class assigned, with emphasis placed on proper teaching methods and preparation of lesson plans. Normally assumed the leadership position and the responsibilities of command functions with continued practical work in drill, technology awareness, and physical training.
