Technology to enhance learning
Description:
In collaboration with other students explore different ways to change the learning experience for students. This class focuses on enhancing the learning experience using technology. Students explore different applications that can be used in the classroom as well as different teaching strategies that can promote meaningful learning. Students share and collaborate on tasks that can help identify what is most impactful in the classroom. Graded on an A-F basis.
Reflection:
This class helped me explore different methods of teaching with technology. Through this class I realized the importance of planning for the future of education. I learned different ways to prepare and use web based applications for education to promote critical thinking and problem solving. One exercise in particular was very influential on me. When mind mapping the way I want my students to learn I reflected on my current teaching strategies in hopes of creating a more student centered discovery based learning experience. I also learned from my fellow classmates the use of Nearpod. Nearpod is an interactive presentation based application for classroom use that helps promote student engagement. I have already used it with my students and they can reflected on how they prefer it compared to taking notes. In comparing student participation and achievement before and after the use of the application there was an increase in the calculation of student grades. This class was a great experience and I enjoyed the ability to read about my fellow classmates experiences as well as share my own.
