Work Based Learning

Work-Based Learning (WBL)

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is an opportunity for LFO juniors and seniors to utilize the skills that they have learned in the classroom and within their CTAE pathway in the workforce, as well as discover new skills in a work environment while earning class credits. During the WBL journey, students gain valuable, relevant work experience and network with a variety of potential employers while submitting monthly time cards, journal assignments, and being evaluated by their employers and school WBL Coordinator. In order to be accepted in WBL, students will fill out an application, interview with the WBL Coordinator, demonstrate academic proficiencies, and meet high standards related to attendance and behavior during high school. WBL is an excellent opportunity to test-drive a career while still earning school credits.

Work-Based Learning Mission Statement

The mission of the Work-Based Learning Program is to assist in providing a highly trained, technologically sophisticated and career oriented young work force. This is accomplished by developing partnerships between business, industry, students, parents, school systems, coordinators, post-secondary institutions, and registered apprenticeships which will lead the participating student into meaningful careers.
