Course Description: Introduction to Culinary Arts is a foundational course that serves an introduction to the culinary arts field and is a pre-requisite to all other courses within the Culinary Arts program. This introductory course allows students a chance to learn how to safely handle and prepare food in a safe and sanitary manner while discovering the basics of the food-service industry. 

Culinary Arts I

Pre-Requisites: Introduction to Culinary Arts Course

Course Description: Culinary Arts I builds upon the foundation established in the Introduction to Culinary Arts course. This course provides a more in-depth education into the food industry as well as providing additional food preparation techniques and concepts, including sauces, dough prep, breads, and cold foods. Students will also receive knowledge regarding professionalism in the food-service industry. 

Culinary Arts II

Pre-Requisites: Introduction to Culinary Arts Course, Culinary Arts I Course

Course Description: Culinary Arts II is the final course in the Culinary Arts pathway and builds upon the foundations established in the Introduction to Culinary Arts and Culinary Arts I courses. This course allows students to deepen their understanding of the food-service industry as well as provides advanced food preparation techniques and concepts, including desserts, international cooking, and food presentation.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

Today, more than 199,000 student members are active in over 4,900 chapters across 46 states, the District of Columbia, the American Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on a variety of youth concerns, including parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, sustainability, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career preparation in four specific career pathways. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.
