Information Technology Pathway

LFO's Information Technology pathway includes educational programs designed to prepare students to build linkages in information technology occupations for entry level, technical, and professional careers related to the design, development, support, and management of hardware, software, multimedia, and systems integration services. Students have the opportunity to learn about the world of digital media and will gain experience with various programs and technology resources including Photoshop, Flash, Web Design, Internet, and video principles. This pathway also incorporates Microsoft Office for Industry Certification.

Introduction to Digital Technology

Pre-Requisites: None

Course Description: Introduction to Digital Technology is a foundational course that serves as an introduction to the technology field and is a pre-requisite to all other courses within the Information Technology program. This course is designed for high school students to understand, communicate, and adapt to a digital world as it impacts their personal life, society, and the business world including: Hardware, Software, Programming, Web Design, IT support, Networking, Problem-Solving, Ethical Issues, and Presentation Skills. Most activities in this course are hands-on projects. Industry Standard employability and Microsoft Office skills are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout this course. 


Digital Design

Pre-Requisites: Introduction to Digital Technology Course

Course Description: In this course, students will use Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, and other software to create and learn digital media elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video, and digital media. 


Web Design

Course Number: 11.45200

Pre-Requisites: Introduction to Digital Technology Course, Digital Design Course

Course Description: In this course, students will plan, design, and create a website using Microsoft Office, Adobe Web Design Suite, and a host of other software and hardware. Website elements include: Photography, Typography, Video, Audio, Graphic Design, and Basic Media Design Principles. Students will learn to work in groups as well as follow instructions independently as they get ready for a diverse workplace.
