Course Description: Basic Agricultural Science is a foundational course that serves as an introduction to the Horticulture and Animal Science field as well as the Plan Floriculture Systems field and is a pre-requisite to all other courses within the Agriscience program. This class introduces the major areas of scientific agricultural production and research, presents problem-solving lessons, and provides students with the introductory skills and knowledge in agricultural science and agri-related technologies. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences as well as leadership programs and activities. 

General Horticulture & Plant Science

Pre-Requisites: Basic Agricultural Science Course

Course Description: General Horticulture and Plant Science continues to build off of the information initially presented in Basic Agricultural Science. This course is designed to introduce students to the major areas of scientific agricultural production and research as well as the major concepts of plant and horticulture science. Students in this course are presented with problem-solving lessons as well as introductory skills and knowledge in agricultural science and agri-related technologies. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences as well as leadership programs and activities.

Note: Completion of this course counts for a graduation credit as a 4th Science on a student's academic transcript. 

Floriculture

Pre-Requisites: Basic Agricultural Science Course, General Horticulture & Plant Science Course

Course Description: Floriculture continues to build off of the information initially presented in Basic Agricultural Science and General Horticulture and Plant Science. This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and practices of floriculture production. Students will develop floriculture skills and the basic understanding necessary to be successful in entry-level positions in the floriculture industry. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences as well as leadership programs and activities.
