Passion projects are independent, self-directed projects that are pursued out of personal interest. They're something that you want to do, based on your interests. All of our girls were assigned to do there own unique passion project based off of things they feel passionate about- Here are some examples of projects that were accomplished through students in 2025 women's leadership.
Hi my name is Cami Stock I am a graduating senior of 2025. My passion project was done with my partner Rylolee and we created blessing bags which were a bag of supplies including toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, soap, deodorant, socks, a granola bar, bottle of water and card for the homeless. We then donated 30 of these bags to a homeless shelter called Bridge house in Boulder who distributed them to those in need. I am passionate about this project because it helped me to be able to be able to give back to those in my community and see that I can actually make a difference around me! It taught me a lot about small things still making big impacts and that things may not always go as planned but there is always another way to make them work out!
My project went into assisting and providing support for a non profit called Hope House and our class. I wanted to put together an event that allowed the girls to bond and get some time together since we haven’t had many opportunities to do so over the year. With Hope House, we were able to cheer on and support the runners helping raise funds through the 5k to support the teen mother with the nonprofit.
Through this experience, I learned a lot about leadership and management. I wish I had pushed more for a bigger fundraiser or dinner night, but I was still happy with how things turned out—especially getting to spend time with the girls in the group, hear from a speaker about Hope House, and volunteer at their 5K. It was a great chance to connect with other leaders, hear different perspectives, and reflect on how we can improve. I wanted to focus more on bonding and service activities because, in the past year, we didn’t have as many. My passion project aimed to create more of those opportunities and give back, especially because my mom, as a young parent, didn’t have support like this. Her story motivates me to support organizations like Team Moers and reminds me why I care so much about this community.
Hi! My name is Nora Simmons, and I’ve been in Women’s Leadership for two years now. I have always been very passionate about the environment and environmental justice, and i knew that I wanted my passion project to be something that helps to benefit our natural world in a genuine way. I hosted restaurant fundraisers to raise money for the nonprofit Conservation Colorado, and with the help of my fellow BHS National Honor Society students I raised $200!! I believe that the money raised through the BHS community will be able to help Conservation Colorado in their efforts to rework Colorado’s legislation to be more sustainable for future generations.
We decided to focus on cleaning up the school as our passion project because we noticed that our school grounds and the surrounding neighborhoods were filled with empty cups, wrappers, and fast food containers. Our project is essentially a campus clean-up. Originally, we started with a campus clean-up day and invited different clubs and sports to participate. It is so important that we keep our school clean, not only for the impact on the environment but because it creates a healthier and more positive space for everyone. Our goal is to build a lasting tradition of cleaning up trash and keeping our environment clean around our campus, as it is an important sense of care and responsibility at our school. By making campus clean-ups part of our school culture, we’re setting an example for future students to follow. Even after we graduate, we want the pride in keeping our school clean to stay.
For my passion project, I taught STEM classes to elementary students at a Title I PK-8 school in Longmont. I have always known that I wanted to go into STEM, and I’ve been fortunate enough to always have female role models in my life showing me that I can go into that field, but I know that there are kids who don’t have those same role models. I want to help close the opportunity gap in STEM education, and to give kids the foundational skills and confidence to continue exploring STEM. And that’s what this passion project gave me. I got to see how impactful encouragement and hands-on learning can be, and how a little self-belief can go a long way.
Hi! I’m Claire and I have been apart of Women’s Leadership for the last two years. This club has given me the outlet to connect with more communities than I ever have before. My passion project was to impact and make a difference for the next generation. I started volunteering at my church and the children’s ministry there, that is where I furthered my passion for taking care of kids. I took my passion project globally and went on a service trip to Honduras to help a small community. I used what I learned at my church to help the kids in El Pastal. I’m so grateful for the connections this passion project has brought me and the impact I have had the privilege of making in peoples lives!
