Speaker Description: Teaching lights Meg up, it is her true passion as she has spent the past 25 years teaching journalism. Initially, Meg Luceri began practicing yoga to balance out many years of intense soccer training but it evolved into a more meaningful practice. She is eager to share with students all that yoga has taught her - dedication to the present moment, the importance of mindful energetic movements, and the benefits beyond physical practice. She looks forward to sharing an all-level creative flow that challenges the mind and body, in an intentional but playful way.

Speaker Description: Porcia Silverberg is a public speaker, creative depth coach, author, artist, and TV show host in Grand Junction, CO. She has started a couple of foundations centered around multicultural collaborations, as well as gender and racial equity. Currently, she runs Soul Centering Connections, a business working to connect and empower women in her community. Porcia will also be launching Connect for Good, a mission to connect people to causes. She is excited to share her experiences and guidance at the conference.

Speaker Description: Suzie Dykstra is the Stem and Outreach Specialist at Ball Aerospace. She is a former teacher at Broomfield High School and was a big part of the Engineering club. Prior to teaching, Ms. Dykstra completed her Ph.D. in biochemistry at Dartmouth College in 2008 where she studied the actin dynamics within the surface protrusions of lymphocytes. In 2010, she completed her MA in curriculum and instruction from the University of Denver through the Boettcher Teachers Program. She is very passionate about working with girls and other under-represented students to get involved in STEM fields.
Session Description: Suzie Dykstra will be hosting an interactive hands-on stem session where women will learn how to use power tools including drills, sanders, rotary tools, and soldering irons to make their own wooden ring. This will be a prized possession you can take home and remind you of this amazing session and the conference experience.
Alyssa Gutierrez - The Strength and Grace of Female Athleticism
Speaker Description: Alyssa Gutierrez is a Denver Nuggets dancer who has been dancing since she was only four years old! She has danced in a variety of styles such as ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and pom, and is now becoming a hip-hop instructor at Cherry Creek Dance Studio.
Session Description: Learn about life as a dancer and a female athlete from professional dancer Alyssa Gutierrez. Ms. Gutierrez will speak on her experiences as an athlete, her challenges and successes, and on body image."
Dianne Maroney - From Pain to Paper; Processing Stress Through Expressive Writing
Speaker Description: Dianne holds a Masters Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. She is an international speaker, expert and thought leader in mental health, and the creator of The Imagine Project, an international nonprofit that helps youth process stress and trauma through expressive writing. Dianne is an author of several books including The Imagine Project: Empowering Kids to Rise Above Drama, Trauma, and Stress (Yampa Valley Publishing, 2018). Her first book The Imagine Project: Stories of Courage, Hope and Love (Yampa Valley Publishing, 2013) won multiple awards including the coveted Benjamin Franklin Award for nonfiction titles.
Session Description: Through an active and engaging presentation, Dianne’s session will help attendees process trauma in a safe and welcoming environment through expressive writing. Attendees will be provided emotional support and a place where they can communicate any weight that has fallen on their shoulders.
Women in Medicine Panel
Session Description: Learn about what it’s like to be a woman working in the medical field (information and introduction about each speaker once speakers have been assigned) . Discover the variety of careers offered and available accompanied with the mental and skillful fortitude needed for these occupations. Panel memebers will discuss the difficulties of being in a male dominated field and their expecierences. This space is a place for young women to ask questions about working in medicine and to learn how to manage the stressors that come with it.
