Session Description: Just as important as it is to keep your minds engaged in women's issues so is it important to keep your bodies engaged. In this session, you will learn basic self-defense which will hopefully help you feel safer as a woman in our current society.
Speaker Description: Carissa Flores is a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a certified instructor. She has been teaching self-defense for five years. She received her Gold Award in Girl Scouts for teaching 90 women and children self-defense hosted at Broomfield High School in 2016 and is honored to be back. Though she had always wished this was something that didn't have to be taught, she knows it is an important skill that must be.
Location: Outdoors
Session Description: How you can transform qualities that are usually considered negative qualities, such as lack of confidence, into a secret weapon. Using these secret weapons to help achieve extraordinary results.
Session Description: In 2015, while pregnant with her first child, Jen Staufer fell over 200 feet while hiking Crestone Peak, a “fourteener” in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo mountain range. In this session, Jen will recount how she had to redefine “resilience”, not only following the fall, but at numerous turning points in her life. Jen’s story will challenge how we think about “resilience” and encourage participants to be open to allowing that definition to change through different experiences.
Speaker Description: Jen is an outdoor enthusiast who loves climbing Colorado’s high peaks. When not outside, Jen can be found around one of Colorado’s many ice rinks playing, coaching or advocating for girls’ ice hockey. Jen holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and an MBA from the University of Colorado. She has over 20 years of Program Management and Operations experience and currently works as a Chief of Staff at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a global semiconductor company that develops high-performance computing, graphics and visualization technologies. Jen resides in Superior, CO with her husband, Justen, their two children and their two beloved black labs.
