Initially, Meg Luceri began practicing yoga to balance out many years of intense soccer training but it evolved into a more meaningful practice. She is eager to share with students all that yoga has taught her - dedication to the present moment, the importance of mindful energetic movements, and the benefits beyond the physical practice. She looks forward to sharing an all-level creative flow that challenges the mind and body, in an intentional but playful way.

Speaker Description: Dr. Annjanette Alejano-Steele is a professor in the public health program in the Department of Health Professions at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is also the co-founder of the Denver-based nonprofit Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University and an NIH postdoctoral fellowship in psychology and medicine from the University of California, San Francisco. Her health psychology expertise has focused on local and global issues, among them reproductive health access and comprehensive community responses to human trafficking. She has supported over 70 survivors of labor and sex trafficking to attend college. Dr. Alejano-Steele has taught, trained and researched human trafficking since 2000. Over the last eighteen years, she has served on five national and federal task forces focusing on trauma and human trafficking. She has trained, presented and published widely, including a 2019 book on global women’s health, focusing on social determinants of health and violence. She has served as an advisor for global human trafficking research projects based in the United Kingdom and Southeast Asia. She most recently directed a 75-person research team for the Colorado Project which focuses on anti-trafficking responses across the 64 counties in Colorado.
Session Description: Human trafficking is a global human rights issue that robs people of their dignity and agency as they are forced to work against their will. Estimates note 49.6 million trafficked globally (Walk Free, 2023). Join this session for a conversation about human trafficking as it looks in Colorado, its overlaps with dating and family violence, and what we can do as allies to identify human trafficking in our schools and communities.
Catherine Tilford & Eada Gendelman - Embrace Strength Counseling: Tools to Battle Body Dissatisfaction
Speaker Descriptions:
Catherine is passionate about helping people heal their relationships with food, exercise, and their bodies which is why she became a counselor and founded Embrace Strength Counseling in 2011. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, she specializes in treating the full spectrum of eating disorders from a non-diet and weight-inclusive lens. She served on the Board of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), volunteered as President of the IAEDP Denver Metro Chapter for four years, and currently teaches Master’s level counseling courses at the University of Colorado Denver.
Eada is currently a therapist at Embrace Strength Counseling and loves her job! She helps teens and adults heal from eating disorders, body image distress, and other mental health concerns. She has worked in the mental health field for over 6 years in hospitals, schools, and all levels of eating disorder care. She graduated with her Master's in Counseling Psychology in 2022 from the University of Denver, and will receive her LPC certification in May of this year.
