Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is the process of designing parts, components or products for ease of manufacturing with an end goal of making a better product at a lower cost. This is done by simplifying, optimizing and refining the product design.
Design for Manufacture Design

Work out what you will make.
You'll use research, ideation and the principles of Kaitiankitanga and Manaakitaga to create a design that will wow your audience.
Design for Manufacture Development
(approximately 12 weeks)
Now its time to develop your project. You'll need to use planning and project management to make sure you deliver on time. And you'll need to test and deliver and various points along the way.
Project Presentation
(approximately 2 weeks)
Now its time to present your project.
