On June the 11th Mr Rodkiss organised a young women code camp at the University of Canterbury. 68 ladies took part from a range of schools in Canterbury to learn about competitive programming. The day consisted of a morning learning a range of programming skills and then in the afternoon a programming competition. Burnside did very well taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. Programming club is held on Fridays in X block and everyone is welcome regardless of gender or programming ability!
In the first week of Term 2, a group of excited students, teachers and one parent flew to the United States to attend the Vex Robotics World Championship. One of those events some people will only experience once in a lifetime.
Seven teams of Burnside competed in the Anzac Programming competition on 26th of March. This competition was predominantly aimed at University students throughout Australia and New Zealand, but our teams did amazing. Grady Kenix, Misha Pavlov, and Zoe Kenix came a phenomenal 9th place overall and third in New Zealand.
