Matt Abode

Biology '24

My name is Matt Abode, I am a senior studying Biology at Bucknell University. I have always had a deep appreciation for the natural world around me, and growing up surrounded by it only helped fuel this. Activities such as hiking, kayaking, and gardening have gotten me much closer to the organisms and ecosystems that I love. I am excited to be a member of the Takahashi lab to grow both as a researcher and person while studying the connections between organisms and their environments

Outside of my academic work, I enjoy traveling and exploration. Whether this is other countries or small hikes I am always in. Tending to plants and gardening is also a favorite of mine. I am a huge movie buff, so when not outdoors, you will typically find me watching the latest movie or nerding out about my favorite series.

My post-graduation plans include potentially pursuing a graduate degree in Ecology or other related fields. Although I’m not sure exactly what career I want to pursue, I would like it to include research and conservation aspects.
