Second Grade

Rayna Halverson

My name is Rayna Halverson. I have lived the last 12 years in Portland, OR. During this time, I received my Master’s in Education and my ESL endorsement. I supported myself in academics by working in retail and for a head start school. I’m passionate about art, technology, and wildlife. My goal is to incorporate all three into my teaching curriculum.

This year marked the beginning of my educational career. I’ve spent the last year teaching ECE in Gambell, AK. Here, I taught my students to appreciate writing by supporting our writing lessons with art and crafts. I used technology and songs to help my students recognize their letters and the sounds those letters make. I look forward to bringing my creativity and positive personality to your students and community.

I was born in Stebbins and grew up here.

I graduated from high school in 1985 and left for UAF that following fall, where I took classes for 2 years. Then I transferred to UAA and took courses there off and on for 5 years.

I’ve been working with Stebbins School for 23 years. I love working with the younger kids and watching then grow and eventually graduate.

On my free time I enjoy doing subsistence fishing and berry picking, boating and riding on snow machines.
