I am excited to be back for my fourth year of teaching in Stebbins. This year I am teaching middle school ELA, 6th grade Social Studies, and Project Lead the Way Design and Modeling.

I am the Champs Coach as well as the Battle of the Books Coordinator for Stebbins. I am looking forward to these additional roles. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working out, walking, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Carolyn Kelly

I moved to Stebbins from Savannah, GA with my husband Terry. I taught children with Autism and Special needs in both Miami, FL and Savannah, GA for 17 years.

Teaching is my second career, my first was as a food and beverage manager in fine restaurants in Miami. I have a Master’s in Special Education and certified in all core academic subjects (Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science).

Terry and I have been married for two years and have a beautiful tabby cat named LilyMae. I love to read, sew, garden, cook and do all kinds of arts and crafts. I practice yoga and believe in taking care of myself through exercise and a healthy diet.

I am very excited to join the Stebbins family of professionals and look forward to develop rewarding and positive relationships with my students and their families.

I grew up in Anchorage and moved to Stebbins some years ago to experience a slower, calmer way of life, spend more time with my family, and enjoy a subsistence way of life.

I moved back to Anchorage for a time, then I moved to Stebbins over three years ago. I’ve worked at the Stebbins School for over three years.

What I like about working here is that I’m making a difference.

When I’m not at work, I like spending time with family, hunting, fishing, camping, berry picking and riding the Honda.

This year I’m looking forward to an exciting new school year.

Shayla Acoman

I am from Stebbins, born and raised. I’ve worked her at the school as a sub for two years, but this is my first year working full time in a permanent position.

I like working here because I love kids. When I’m not at work I like to spend time with my family.

This school year I’m looking forward to working with the kids.

Justice Raymond

I am from Stebbins - I’ve lived in Stebbins my whole life, 25 years!

Before I came to work for BSSD, I held several jobs. My first paying job I ever had was a laundry attendant, and then I became a community health aide in 2016. I worked there for three years. I’ve also worked at our IRA as an FDPIR assistant.

This is my first time ever working at the Stebbins School. Working here at the school is great. There’s something new or different every day. I enjoy being in this environment; it’s so welcoming and warming. This school year I’m looking forward to working with the young kids so that I may experience the energy and feel of how a young mind may work.

When I’m not at work I spend most of my days and hours with my 3-year-old son. We do a lot together: play with toys, we enjoy drawing and coloring, and we learn new words and sounds. We also go on rides and go for walks, which he enjoys very much.

There is more that I would love to achieve in my life, but I feel I may need experience. I believe that working with our children will help me better pursue my future career. Nothing is better than being able to adapt and change; we live in an ever-evolving world. Quyana.
