Everybody knows that Elvis got his first guitar when he was 11. He got it on January, 8th, 1946. I got My first guitar when I was 11. His beloved mother Gladys bought it for him at Kay’s Hardware Store. The Guitar was 12.95 and in today’s money that is around 150 Dollars. Elvis came from a very well mannered home in Tupelo, Mississippi. They didn't have a lot of money and Elvis loved that guitar and would bring it to school at Milliam Junior High School. Bullies used to take it from him and cut the strings. Those bullies don't know who they were messing with. When his 8th Grade Choir Teacher gave him a C Elvis said because you don’t like my kinda music so you gave me a C. Elvis then came in the next day and sang Keep Those Cold Icy Fingers Off Me. The Choir teacher was stunned and then she said that she was wrong. Elvis used that Guitar everywhere and when the moved to Memphis Elvis would sit under the tree next to the Lauderdale Courts where Elvis lived from 1948 to 1952 he would play with it and have Jam Sessions in the Laundry Room with Johnny and Dorsey Burnette and loved it. He went to record a Record for his Mother and used the Guitar and sang the songs My Happiness and That’s When Your Heartaches Begin. He recorded this at Sun Records for 3.98 plus tax with the tax added on it was 4.95. Then when he was called back in to the Sun Studios Elvis was teamed up with Scotty More Electric Guitar and Bill Black Bass and Elvis Lead Acoustic Guitar. And they did’t know what do sing until Elvis picked Up His Guitar and started banging on it and singing That’s Alright Mama and that's how music was born. When he first got his Guitar he also wanted a Rifle or a Bike. He got the Rifle when he was 12 and the Bike when he was 13. Elvis used it on the Grand Ole Opry and the Louisiana Hayride. Then in 1954 he walked into O.K Houck Piano Company in Memphis and asked how much he good get on a trade in for his first Guitar and he traded it for a used 1942 Martin D-18 and only got 8 Dollars trade in value and the Owner threw his guitar in the trash which made Elvis sad but he liked his nice new Martin D-18. He then put metallic letters on it that said ELVIS on it and used until late 1955 and then bought a newer 1955 Martin D-28 and used it but first he had a Leather cover made and it was brown and said Elvis Presley in the bottom left corner and he used until late 1956. Martin just recently put out an Elvis Tribute and made Limited Edition Guitar that is a D-28 with the Leather Cover. It is for sale for around 6,700 Dollars to 11,000. Part II will come soon on ELVIS CULTURE.

Elvis on The Louisiana Hayride is just like every Elvis thing you have ever seen - Neat. Elvis got Nationally famous, but this was before The Ed Sullivan Show, The Steve Allen Show, and The Milton Berle Show. Elvis first time on the show was on October 16th, 1954. He got on there and rocked it. It was presented by Lucky Strike Cigarettes and was sometimes on TV. Elvis was their biggest artist. Elvis sang a lot of his hits there like “That’s Alright Mama”, “Blue Moon Of Kentucky”, and “Baby Let’s Play House.” Elvis’ last time on the Hayride was April 9th, 1956. Then, he did his first movie “Love Me Tender.” After that, he went on to The Ed Sullivan Show. The Louisiana Hayride really got Elvis touring. In fact, he went back to his hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi to do a charity concert in 1956. Tammy Wynette the Country singer was there and that was before she got started. Elvis loved

Presley did this movie in 1961, it being his eighth movie. He played a character named Glenn Tyler, a guy who got in trouble for hitting his brother. Glenn meets psychiatrist Irene Sperry played by Hope Lange, whom Glenn doesn’t like at first, telling her, “You are just trying to find out what makes me tick“. Glenn ends up falling in love with her and wants to marry her. Mr.Tyler is a great author that has potential and wants to go to College and he gets a job selling hair tonic and alcohol and stays in his Uncle’s basement of the store. He dates his sweetheart, black haired Betty Lee Parsons played by Millie Perkins. He also falls in love with his distant Uncle’s Daughter Noreen Braxton played by Tuesday Weld. But his Heart is true to Ms. Sperry. Glenn goes on writing his story about his loves. And Ms. Sperry knows he has it. Glenn is worried and shouted outside of her house, “I want my story back Ms. Sperry.” Elvis then goes driving with Ms.Sperry in her Ford Station Wagon when it starts to thunder and then Mrs. Sperry hits a puddle and the car spins out of control. Glenn holds her in his arms and says it’s okay. Then, he takes the wheel and they pull into a hotel and Glenn gets some Cherry Pop and they get 2 hotel rooms. Mrs.Sperry goes in and talks to him and he says, “It's okay, there nothing to be ashamed of“. Mr.Tyler then goes to her room and then they start kissing. Elvis then goes back home. He and Noreen go on a date after Mrs. Sperry who is older than Elvis, says it isn’t right for them to be together and he goes to beat up and accidentally kills the law chairman’s son, who died of a bad heart. Then he gets pulled over and arrested and then goes to court where Mrs. Sperry tries to defend him but the law chairman lies and says his son didn't have a bad heart. Mrs. Sperry then goes and tries to kill herself by putting a hose to her car and killing herself. Mr.Tyler is in court and finds out and runs to Mrs. Sperry’s house. Mrs. Sperry is on oxygen and he tells her “I will never let anything hurt you again,” she wakes up and they have their moment, but then Glenn has to go back to college. Elvis Presley’s songs are put on the Elvis Wild In The Country 45 and Elvis Golden Records Volume 4 LP and The Elvis Something For Everybody LP.
“Elvis On Tour” is a Golden Globe winning documentary of Elvis Presley going on tour showing him on and off stage on four shows - April 9th , 1972 in Hampton Roads, Virginia, April 10th , 1972 in Richmond, Virginia ( My Pa’s Birthday ), April 14th , 1972 in Greensboro, North Carolina, then on April 18th , 1972 in San Antonio, Texas. The first show he was wearing the Powder Blue Suit on the second show he was wearing the Burning Love Suit and then on third show he was wearing the Owl Suit and on the fourth show he was wearing the Red and White Pinwheel Suit.
