A poem by America V.V.
We work from 9 to 9 each day so our families can have food on the table.
We can go hours and hours without seeing each other.
There are days in the week where we are not able to buy groceries or have hygiene products .
We have struggled each day just to be where we are.
We have jobs that many other people don't want to work at.
We have to risk everything in our lives so our children can have everything they need.
We crossed the border so they can walk the stage .
Hispanic households have larger families .
We have families all over the world.
Everyone depends on us because we work in fields and construction.
We come from a poor family where you wouldn't complain about anything.
We work even though were in pain every single day.
We may not be US citizens but were still humans .
We may not be the right color but were still humans right .
They may hate us but that doesn't affect us .
Teachers have always doubted us for being Hispanic.
We ask for help and get told to go ask somebody else.
We may have not been welcome here but we did it so our kids won't suffer.
Many of our Hispanics parents are middle school and high school dropouts.
We have received the education that our parents have dreamed about.
The only answer you hear from teachers is no.
We may not be the perfect family but we always stick together.
Were there for each other through the hard times.
Us Hispanics have strict rules on many things that you have as freedom.
We are grateful for anything that we get because our parents work hard.
There has been months were Christmas is not celebrated because we don't have the money.
These moments are the ones we cherish because over the years they make sure there is food on the table .
A poem by America V.V.
As we isolate ourselves from family and friends .
We start to think about the times that we spent
Together .
Now that we are no longer together it's about time
That people start to cherish those moments .
It's the time that we think about the things that we can no longer do and
The plans that got canceled.
As the months go by we start to think how much longer can this go .
Kids and adults locked inside.
Malls and many other stores are closed.
Family time is now everyday without any excuses .
Many are now forced to wear masks on their face and gloves on our hands.
There's no more stepping inside a store being calm
Now it's you who has to hurry and leave before it gets full.
People are now forced to camp out just to go inside a simple store.
There's no more normal grocery shopping with kids now it's done alone.
Everyday is laying on the couch and sleeping .
There is no more waking up at 7 for school .
Now it's waking up at 9 for school that is done online .
Many people are suffering from depression due to this being the first time being at home for months .
Playgrounds and churches are now closed .
Many families are now left struggling for food and many home goods.
Many won't get the stimulus check and are left empty handed .
States have no clue what to do at this point .
There has been thousand of people applying for unemployment benefits.
We're only left with one option to see family and friends and it's zoom.
It's been about three months that we have not hugged each other.
Each day just gets more painful and stressful .

In the worst hour of the season people were
found to be working in stores.
In the worst hour of the season people were found to be battling against Covid-19.
In the worst hour of of the season people where found to be
risking their health for others lives
In the worst hour of the season schools were forced to be closed.
In the worst hour of the season kids lost their education.
In the worst hour of the season people lost their jobs.
In the worst hour of the season many students would lose there
last memorable senior year of high school.
In the worst hour of the season people were forced to be inside their homes while many others were stuck in different states.
In the worst hour of the season many had to be separated from their families.
In the worst hour of the season family's lost loved ones without saying goodbye.
In the worst hour of the season many lost their homes.
In the worst hour of the season there are still people living in the streets.
In the worst hour of the season many quinceañeras would be canceled.
In the worst hour of the season many graduations were to be canceled.
In the worst hour of the season Covid-19 stripped us all of our freedom.
