Queen City Writers

  • Established in 2012, QCW is a refereed journal that publishes essays and multimedia work by undergraduate students affiliated with any post-secondary institution. They also publish reviews, snapshots of writers, and comments. Issues are published twice a year in fall and spring. They seek thought-provoking pieces from any disciplinary perspective that explore questions and problems related to writing, rhetoric, reading, pedagogy and teacher-training, literacy broadly conceived, popular culture and media, community discourses, and multimodal and digital composing.

  • Anthropology Now is an independent initiative committed to claiming a public voice for anthropology. Set up as a way to share anthropology with the ‘well-informed reader’ it accepts shorter submissions (3500-4000 words) and aims at being jargon-free with vivid ethnographic narratives. The journal accepts student work of various sorts for the website as well (fieldnotes, findings, reviews, poetry, art, etc.). Anthrozine is designed specifically to “encourage student creativity through anthropology by publishing works from college students and recent grads that explores their individual encounter with our discipline.”

  • Canopy is an in-house publication with contributions from staff, students and visiting speakers at Oxford Brookes University about their primatology research. The aim of Canopy is to provide the wider primatology and conservation community with a representation of selected current and past works undertaken by UG and MSc students and acts as a medium for communication between past and present students, those working in primatology, and those with a general interest in the topics covered in these issues.

  • The Journal for Undergraduate Ethnography (JUE) seeks to distribute original student-produced work from a variety of disciplinary areas. Our goal is to bring readers, especially other undergraduates, insights into subcultures, rituals, and social institutions. We expect crossovers with anthropology, sociology, area/regional studies, American studies, urban studies as well as programs in education and marketing. The JUE encourages current undergraduates or those who have graduated within the past twelve months to submit original ethnographic manuscripts for consideration.
