Research conferences

Student research conferences offer students the opportunity to present their research findings to a wide audience. Some conferences are run by colleges, departments or faculties within the university (see the individual faculty and colleges pages for information). The Student Research Launch Pad also hosts the Oxford Brookes University GetPublished! university-wide conference every year, and supports students in presenting research projects at interdisciplinary national conferences too. Other conferences are hosted by organisations specific to certain subjects - for example, the Psychology programme supports students in presenting at the British Psychological Society Midlands Conference.

Presenting research at conferences enhances students' research skills and helps students to improve communication and presentation skills. Discussing research with fellow students and others can provide feedback to help inform the further development of ideas. If employers are invited, students can also use the opportunity to create a professional network. It also looks great on a CV and demonstrates the ability to rise to a challenge.
