Blogs, vlogs and podcasts

Online methods of publishing research are growing in popularity. Posting research findings regularly to a blog, vlog, podcast or wiki is a great way to develop the habit of sharing your research, and can provide instant access to a wide audience. Blog hit counters can also track the impact of student work, and well-researched comments from fellow bloggers can provide useful peer review.

The Student Research Launch Pad runs workshops to support students in developing a research blog. Check out the Training Workshops page for more information.

The Student Research Launch Pad is also awards prizes for the best student blogs. See the Student Research Launch Pad Prizes page for more information.

Some modules at Oxford Brookes already incorporate blogging. For example, second year Publishing students blogged on the “Publishing in the Digital Age” module. The blogs used full Harvard referencing (unusual for this medium, but essential for academic work).
