Undergraduate students can publish research in a range of academic journals dedicated to providing a platform for student work.
Undergraduate journals are supportive: they recognise that student research may have been carried out in a limited time frame and are careful in their reviewing processes.
In 2019-2020, the Student Research Launch Pad is also awarding prizes for the best research journal articles written by students (or teams of students) that are accepted by a journal this academic year. See the Student Research Launch Pad Prizes page for more information.
Oxford Brookes is involved in running several undergraduate research journals:
Mesh – an international e-journal publishing undergraduate work in English studies (Dr Andrea Macrae is co-founder and Senior Editor)
GEOverse – a national e-journal of undergraduate research in Geography (Prof Helen Walkington is Editor-in-Chief and postgraduate students are part of the reviewing team).
Reinvention – an international e-journal of undergraduate research from a range of disciplines (Prof Helen Walkington is an International Advisory Board member).
Oxford Brookes is also involved in running a postgraduate and professional academic journal:
Canopy - an in-house publication with contributions from staff, students and visiting speakers about their research on primatology and conservation.

Publishing in research journals is a brilliant way to disseminate student research. It can also give a real boost to professional profiles and lead to further opportunities. Nursing student Emma Blakey, for example, was offered a student column in The British Journal of Nursing, after submitting an article.
