sound

I decided to shorten the length of the song using adobe audition due to the overall length of the song being way too long. I input the settings I thought necessary (sample rate, bit depth etc.) and tried to find the most natural points within the song.

The natural points found themselves being at 01:06 and about 02:08 and from that point, I sliced them together and added a cross dissolve between the two layers which allows me to transition the two layers over each other with ease.

This allowed for a smooth transition that would fit the length of the dance.

EDITING

oRGANISING MY FILES

Always when editing I break down my project into a folder. In the folder, I have got three subfolders labelled...

ASSETS - this is all of my footage (which contains three subfolders labelled audio for audio, graphics for text or transitions or other graphics and rushes which are all raw footage)

EDITS - this contains all of my edits of the project.

RENDERS - all final renders and exports I have.

This really helps me when editing because it keeps all my files organised so I'm not wasting time trying to find files which are just lying wherever on my computer. It really speeds up my work flow and is beneficial for me as i'm very particular about keeping things organised and planning ahead.

phOTOSHOP

For the title sequence at the end of the music video, I had a couple of ideas on how I could potentially do it. One idea I liked was having a black background with see-through text so you could read out 'Trusted You' through it. I knew if I did it on Premiere pro it would consist of having to add an adjustment layer, then adding text, then masking it out which I thought would take way too long and considering I'm competent at using photoshop I thought it would make the most sense if I created the graphic on there.

I opened up photoshop and type out the initial text and after some experimentation of typeface and size and spacing, I finally got a looked I was happy with. I clicked on the magic masking tool and began to mask out the text on both the text layer and the base layer so it would create a see-through text effect. I exported the image and put it into the timeline to see roughly how it would look but due to the lighting set up in the footage (i.e dark and moody) half the words didn't come out so it just looked like 'Tr ed yu' which would be very awkward so I went back to the drawing board and began to think of other ways I could add a text graphic.

I was already in photoshop so I thought I might as well make the graphic there. I decided on the simpler option of just putting in some white text with no background. I used the same typeface and characteristics as I was happy with them and created the text graphic by doing essentially the exact same as the previous one however I removed the black background instead of removing the text. The final product was something like this. And to be honest, in the final edit, it does work a lot better as you can actually see the writing. If I were to do it again however I would probably add a few more lines such as 'By SIRINE' or 'Directed by Matt Fulcher' but it's not that important. I'm still satisfied with the end result.
