START OF PROJECT - JOB ROLES - INITIAL PLANNING

This was the first day back after May half term and we instantly started working on the radio broadcast unit. We learned what days the broadcast would be over and what groups we were in.. We then had to go off in our own respective groups and begin brainstorming ideas for what we would do for our shows.

I was put into the Breakfast show group which is going to be the first show of every day during the broadcast week (19th - 23rd of July). We started off by trying to decide who in the group would have what job role. Eventually this became the rough outline:

  • Producers: Declan and Matt (me)

  • Drivers: Arlo and Lola

  • Presenters: Nia and Becky

  • Co-presenter: Nancy

  • Runner: Sirene

  • BTS: Leya

We were very democratic about job roles and made sure everyone present was happy with their job roles before finalising them. We then moved onto planning which included drafting up rough notes and ideas about what we could do for what episodes. There were going to be four episodes so we needed four seperate themes for each episode that would follow the same outline.

CONTINUED PLANNING - JINGLE CREATING - MARKETING

Today we were sort of split into a couple sub groups. Nia and Becky were generating further ideas, Arlo and I were breaking down the schedule and running through what segments would need to be pre-recordered or live, Declan was working on some early drafts of marketing and Lola was working on the first draft of a jingle.

On top of this Nia and I began working on four Brit Radio exclusive episodes of our podcast 'The Chatterbox Podcast'. Our idea for each episode is to rip off a popular game show and give it a title similar to it. Our ideas so far:

  • Room 505 (Room 101) - Each guest and host comes in with things related to a topic. The master of the game will pick one out of the three things to go into room 505. This will take place enough times for everyone to be the master once.

  • Lizards Mansion (Dragon's Den) - Each guest and host comes in with an invention. The lizards will judge and ask questions about the product before saying if they would invest or not. Each person will pitch their idea.

  • Would I Tell You The Truth? (Would I Lie To You?) - Each guest and host sends in a truth which is jumbled in with lies. Each host will be given one story (whether true or false) and they will have to convince the other people that they're all true.

  • College Challenge (University Challenge) - There will be one game host and three competitors who will go head to head to answer questions. (note: questions will not be as difficult as university challenge)
