My portfolio explores the idea of femininity. I used different lighting to convey the emotion of each piece, both the entrapment and freedom of living as a woman. Through my self portraits On Display and Twisted I conveyed my own experiences. In my other pieces, Caged, Illuminate and Free, I described a general feeling of femininity, illustrating how being feminine is an emotional experience rather than a physical one, and can look like many different things. In my work I explored different mediums such as conté, charcoal, India ink, and acrylic paint, but I found that my favorite was using watercolor and colored pencil together. I enjoyed these mediums because of the intricacy they allowed for as well as the ability to create very different feelings between pieces with the same mediums.
