In A-Level Physical Education there are two main sections of the course:

Psychological and socio-cultural themes in physical education

Physiological Factors
The first topic we will study is Applied Anatomy & Physiology. This covers bones, muscles and movement and will build on your GCSE knowledge. Don't worry if you didn't study PE at GCSE, the video below will help you.
Task 1
Watch the video and make notes to answer the following questions in your first lesson.
1) What are all the different movements of the body?
2) How do joints and bones allow movement to occur?
3) How do different joints allow different movements to occur? Give examples.
Psychological Factors
The second half of the theory course is based more on the brain and the first thing we study is known as Skill Acquisition. This covers how we control major movements in the body and develop our bodily movements with our mind.

1) What different types of skills are there?
2) What are sporting examples of the different types of skills?
3) Are there any examples that you do not think fit well into a classification? Why?
