We are really pleased that you are keen to become designers of the future! The course is split into two main areas:
NEA (coursework) 50%
Exam units, 50%
You will need to start thinking about what project you could do early on so here is a short task to ensure that you are well prepared for the start of the course. See you in September.
Task 1
You will need to start mind mapping different ideas for your project.
Think about areas where a problem needs solving such as the environment, storage, education etc. This will give you a good platform to start from.
You will then need to start thinking about different areas that you might need to focus on such as:
Potential materials
Colour schemes
Possible users
Where it could be used
Size
What function could it have?
Task 2
Once you have completed the mind map, you need to start looking towards inspiration.
The best way to do this is to create an inspirational images mood board. This will need to consist of images of products similar to what you are thinking of designing, as well as images of colours, materials, shapes etc that could inspire your design work.
Completing these tasks will allow you to hit the ground running in September with your NEA.
