OVERVIEW
In GCSE media studies, 30% of the overall grade comes from a Non-Exam Assessment (NEA), which is marked in school with moderation samples submitted to AQA in the year of the examination
Each year, the exam board offers several coursework options. We guide students towards the option we feel will be easiest for our students to understand and complete successfully. It also allows us to provide effective support within the available time. By focusing our guidance, we can offer more detailed and helpful assistance, within the constraints of the exam board's regulations. Students are free to choose a different brief but there will inevitably less indepth support available for them if they do so
The final version of the students' coursework must be handed in by 1st March in Year 11. This gives teachers the time to mark the work thoroughly, moderate for accuracy and prepare samples to send to the exam board.
The following deadlines are in place for students and staff (all deadline dates fall in the academic year of the final examination):
NEA STATEMENT OF INTENT DEADLINE 1st October
NEA FIRST DRAFT DEADLINE 1st December
NEA SECOND DRAFT DEADLINE 1st February
NEA FINAL DEADLINE 1st March
