IT will email staff to inform them when a SIMS server update is required. After the SIMS server has been updated, all machines that have SIMS installed will automatically update. If your computer was turned off whilst the update happened, or if you have a laptop that was off-site whilst the update happened, then you will need to allow time for SIMS to update itself.
Depending on the size of the update, it may take up to 15 minutes for the update to install. If 15 minutes has passed since turning on your machine, and you still cannot open SIMS, then please follow the steps below to troubleshoot, or contact IT.
Note: if you get the error ‘Incompatible Database’, this means your SIMS has not updated to match the latest version.
If you are experiencing trouble with SIMS, please use the SOLUS SIMS notification agent to check for any available updates. This can be located in the taskbar or in the start menu as shown below:
You should then get the SOLUS Notification Agent up as below. If it does not appear, close the app by right clicking on the icon in the taskbar and selecting close.
Info will inform of the update status; if an update appears as pending, please install it.
Applications will show if any updates are available / what has recently been installed, with the option to re-install, when clicking ‘Check for Updates’.
If an update is already installed, no action is need. If you are still having issues, please contact IT Support.
If there is an update needing installation, please follow the update instructions on the application.
